Boxee Box Now Available for Pre-Order

If you’ve taken the time to consider the new Apple TV and know in your heart of hearts that the diminutive black puck just isn’t your cup of tea, you might be happy to hear that the Boxee Box is now available for pre-order. For those of our readers that have been around for a while now, you’ll know that many of the Mac|Life staff have a whole lotta love for Boxee‘s do-everything media content software solution. With that in mind, we’re also looking forward to seeing what the company can do on the hardware side of things.

From all reports, the Boxee Box is looking pretty darn good. As with its computer-bound precursor, the Boxee Box will be able to play just about any non-DRM protected media you can imagine, as well as content from streaming media providers like Hulu. To ensure that all of that multimedia goodness is consumable without any stutters, stops or buffering comas, the device is now powered by an Intel Atom. Sadly, unlike Boxee‘s free software, the privilege of owning a Boxee Box comes with a 9 price tag attached to it.

There’s little doubt that these things will be a hot commodity in the days to come. To get yours or learn more, navigate to Boxee’s official site right now.
