Rumor: Updates A Plenty Coming This Week?

Tuesdays can be kind of bland during the workweek.  Monday just happened, and we’re not quite to Wednesday yet.  So if your Tuesday was a little on the “so-so” side, hopefully the newest rumor will perk you up a bit.  Word is that Apple could be releasing Mac OS X 10.6.5 AND iTunes 10.1 via Software Update tomorrow!  Feeling a little bit better, but still need more?  How about iOS 4.2 coming out on Friday?  That’s more like it!

But always erring on the side of caution, the report is coming from a “source working close with AT&T,” and carrier reps aren’t always the greatest source for tidbits of information, so take it how you want:

According to our source, 10.6.5 completed the certification stage a few hours ago and iTunes was ready 3 weeks ago – likely after the release of beta 2 to developers.

Most know that the golden master version of iOS 4.2 was handed out to developers last week, but apparently a public release has had to go on hold for Apple to put the finishing touches to Mac OS X 10.6.5, which is needed to be able to give support to certain functions of AirPrint on iOS 4.2.  iTunes 10.1 is also needed to support AirPlay streaming capabilities.  With that, logic would point to Mac OS X 10.6.5 and iTunes 10.1 making their appearance just about before or along with iOS 4.2.

Just in case said rumors do come to fruition, we’ll certainly keep you posted!
